STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Nineteen

AN ACT relative to permits for vehicle registration.

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

1  Certificates of Title and Registration of Vehicles; Municipal Permits for Registration; Permit Required.  Amend RSA 261:148, I-II to read as follows:

      I.  A current, government-issued photo identification card and a certificate of title, if required by the provisions of this chapter, or application for such certificate of title; or

      II. In the case of a vehicle exempted from the title requirements of this chapter, a current, government-issued photo identification card and:

      (a)  A bill of sale from such previous owner; or

      (b)  If the previous owner was a dealer in vehicles, a temporary registration certificate or an application for a certificate of title.

2  Effective Date.  This act shall take effect upon its passage. Passed 6/24/19. This bill was signed by the Governor on 6/21/19. Effective date was 6/21/19.

Simply put: This bill requires that a current photo identification be presented to the Town Clerk to obtain any registration permit.
