I am new to New Hampshire - Registration
261:45 Resident of State
Notwithstanding the provisions of RSA 261:44, when a nonresident has established a bona fide residency in this state, said resident shall have a maximum of 60 days from the date his residency was established in which to register his vehicle in New Hampshire.
I just moved to New Hampshire, what do I need to prove my residency so I can register my vehicle?
First you will need to complete a RECORDS CHANGE REQUEST form. This will be accompanied by ONE of the following for proof of residency:
- a current utility bill (electricity, cable, gas, etc) that has your name and the Boscawen address on it OR
- a copy of your rental agreement/lease or mortgage closing papers OR
- a paystub or bank statement OR
- a signed and NOTARIZED LETTER from the property owner (NOT a roommate) where you are living, stating that you do, live at that specific address. This is protection for you and the property owner. Failure to include any items will prohibit issuance of a vehicle registration.
When registering your OUT-OF-STATE vehicle with an OUT-OF-STATE title (no lienholder)
- The original out-of-state title
- The original out-of-state registration (include color of vehicle)
- Copy of your driver’s license(s) if more than one owner
- Plate choice (if you want a vanity plate, you must provide a completed VANITY PLATE APPLICATION)
A signed check made out to the Town of Boscawen OR credit card information. Please include, name on card, card number, expiration date, three digit code and an email address for your receipt. Payment must accompany all transaction or your paperwork will be returned to you.
Credit/debit card. (there is a 2.95% charge by the bank to process cards)
When registering your OUT-OF-STATE vehicle with a lienholder (AKA who you make payments too)
- The original out-of-state registration
- The lien holders information
- The vehicle(s) description ( color and current mileage on vehicle)
- Copy of your driver’s license(s) if more than one owner
- Plate choice (if you want a vanity plate, you must provide a completed VANITY PLATE APPLICATION.)
