Delinquent tax notices can be confusing with the RSA'S and language used, you may not fully understand what it nessesary to keep you in your home. Here is a quick run down of the procedures to help you through the process.

Past due (Pink) reminder notices went out in January. The due date for these past due amounts is February 16th at 5:30 pm. The information on these notices was for all outstanding tax debt from January 2022 to December 2022.

February 18th certified notices will be created. These notices will either be for a 2022 Lien or a 2020 Deed. Both of these notices will add fees and panalties to your outstanding debt.

LIENING
You will have 30 days to pay your 2022 tax and sewer bills prior to adding a lien to your property. If the balance is not paid within the this timeframe at 8% accrual of interest is added and additional fees for mortgage search and notices sent is executed.

DEEDING
You will have 30 days to pay your 2020 Lien prior to the Town taking your property by tax deeding. This is a very serious situation to get in and repurchasing your property can be costly. The ability to repurchase your property is offered, however you will need pay all of the 2020, 2021, 2022 taxes due plus legal and any addtional expenses it cost the Town through the process.
